Ocaquatics Presents Daniela Canchon

“I love helping the families that become part of our school. It’s both humbling and exciting to help change a kid’s life by showing them the importance of being safer in and around the water.”

Ocaquatics shines the spotlight on Daniela Canchon, who has been with the company for more than six years. Daniela was born in Bogota, Colombia. She arrived in the United States when she was six years old and originally thought her love of animals would lead to a career as a zoologist.

Fortunately for Ocaquatics, Daniela found her love for children was even stronger. She says that working at Ocaquatics has completely changed her mind about what she wants to do with her life. Here’s what life at Ocaquatics is like for Daniela, in her own words.

Where did you begin your career at Ocaquatics and what is your current role?

“I started working at Ocaquatics as a front desk assistant. My current role is the General Manager of our Tropical location.”

What is your favorite thing about working at Ocaquatics?

“I love helping the families that become part of our school. It’s both humbling and exciting to help change a kid’s life by showing them the importance of being safer in and around the water. The process also helps me to grow and make a better version of myself.”

What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of Ocaquatics?

“I love to spend time with my family and with friends that I have made at Ocaquatics. I also enjoy going to the beach, and right now I’m busy planning for my baby’s arrival.”

What is the coolest thing you're working on right now?

“I’m helping with the schedules for our summer classes. It’s a challenge to make sure we’re using the resources and teachers to benefit everybody.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

“Hawaii or Australia.”

Who inspires you?

“That’s an easy question to answer: Miren Oca. She inspires me every day to become a better leader, a better person, and soon to become a better mother. She helps so many people every single day.”

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

“I love my job and the career I have built here. It’s a place to find growth and challenge. You really can make a difference, and you get to see it every day. I can’t imagine working anywhere else.”
